Hallowe’en

So I forgot my digital camera when I went to Holland with Widget to hang out with MK and AE. We stopped by my work (and it is where MK’s husband E’s dad works too) to show off the kids in costume, then we tried to visit my dad but he wasn’t at his office so we trooped down to the toystore where we both worked and saw one of our old coworkers and then we took a pit stop at the candy store (I know seems silly since it was Halloween but neither of us planned to take the kids trick or treating) and one of the owners thought the kids were so cute, he gave them free suckers :P After all that, we stopped at the parents’ as my mother is in town to attend some appointments and took pictures. We used my dad’s film camera and now I have to get the film developed and a picture cd to upload them to my photo gallery. I hope I got some cute pictures. I don’t mind using a film camera but I miss not being able to preview them like I can on our digital camera.

I’ll post a couple if they turn out well.

We had a nice drive home from TN. Widget was an absolute trouper both ways in the car- she didn’t fuss at all except for a couple times when she said “help, help. I stuck.” :P I ended up driving 2/3 of the way home because T didn’t feel well. He ended up seeing one of the Nurse Practitioners at PH’s office today who thinks it is likely that he has a sinus infection. We made our long stop at the SuperTarget south of Indianapolis (I’m so jealous. I want a SuperTarget here!) both ways.

We did have a good visit with M, although CP was a bit of a handful, even more than he has been before. I’m sure that some of it has to with the fact that his Dad has been gone for a total of 2 years of his 4 1/2 years of life but I did suggest to M that maybe she consider getting him checked for ADHD or sensory issues because he can’t handle any sort of loud crowded situation.

While we were there, M found out that K should come home from Baghdad with the first group, so hopefully he’ll leave November 7. Just one week! Yay!

Oh and the people that came through on Saturday want to come through again this Saturday.  Crossing my fingers…

Grooving

So we’re in TN and the kids are dancing to Beastie Boys and Beck (thanks to M) and screeching about their balloons.  It is wild and silly.  Widget has her groove on :P

Tomorrow is G’s 2nd birthday, we are heading to Chuckie Cheese and carving pumpkins.

And I just got a call from our realtor for a showing between 1-2 tomorrow. YAY!!

What kind of mother am I?

I subjected Widget to having her blood drawn because I insisted on it to make sure everything was okay.  She had to get poked twice because the guy lost the vein on the first arm.

And everything was normal and she didn’t have mono.

Walgreens or my hometown pharmacy

I think I might be about to “sell out” to Walgreens for my three bagillion prescriptions.  I just got a thing in my mail for their new prescription discount W card.  It costs $35 for a family for a year ($20 for an individual) but you get a $20 gift card.  I checked with the pharmacist and while two of the drugs cost about the same as I’m paying with my current discount card, one is about $20 cheaper for my new rx (45 pills) than I paid for my recent 30 pill refill, and the last two are better than I’m paying now if I can buy in a 3 month quantity.  Moving my prescriptions to Walgreens would be nice because after they have them, you can refill pretty much at any Walgreens.

However, it means not going to my nice downtown pharmacy where they know me when I walk in and ask about Widget.  I’ve been getting the majority of my prescriptions there since I was 12 in 1989.  I even stayed with them after we moved 30 minutes away because I’m always back in Holland, so I just try to refill when I’m there (I do have to make sure I get there before 5:30 on Saturdays as they aren’t open on Sundays).  I used to work down the street in the specialty toystore and I was a big supporter of the small independent shops downtown, although now I do tend to shop the “mass market” stores like Target, Kohls, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble.

Is it weird that I feel bad because I really like the pharmacist/owner and her staff (except one pharmacist who no longer works there- she was always grumpy)?

She sleeps

and sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. 14 hours last night. And so far her nap has been 3 1/2 hours today (she is still sound asleep).

She was sick (2xs) from the augmentin this morning even though I made sure she ate something before giving it to her. She ate a few graham cracker sticks and a little water before her nap but otherwise hasn’t had anything to eat or drink really since whatever she had for lunch yesterday.

When she has been sick other times, she hasn’t been like this. M said maybe it is mono, since her son, CP had mono earlier this year and he’s 4.

Whatever it is, I am starting to feel very concerned. It has been nearly two weeks since she started running a fever and a week since we went to the doctor.

Curious George

This is Widget’s new favorite movie. She has watched it about a dozen times by now. We rented it first and after listening to her say “George? George? Where George?” after returning it, we decided to buy it.

Actually, it is a good kids’ movie. And I love that all the music is done by Jack Johnson (my favorite singer right now). I already owned the soundtrack and now when we listen to it in the car, Widget is very excited and shouts “George!” :P
