Poor baby

October 18, 2006

Widget fell asleep in the car on the way home today about 5 PM. Usually, she wakes up either when we get in the house or about a 1/2 hour after I put her in bed, even on days (like today) where she never had a nap of any sort. It is now 11:20 and she never woke up. I hope she sleeps all night or this will be a very short one for me.

She is still sick- yucky nose, cough, low grade fever, whiny, not eating, *lots of fun*. Really. Her antibiotic got switched to a stronger one, so hopefully that will get whatever this is out of her system.

And now I should go to bed since I suspect rise and shine will come far too early tomorrow.

The way to handle

October 16, 2006

my insurance frustrations is to tell Psychiatrist Guy at my appointment today who then gets the clinic manager (even though she is the outpatient manager) who says “Don’t worry about it. I will call them for you and get this sorted out.” This was after I talked first with the insurance company about one bill and she says “well, this bill has the deductible included and then we covered 50% of the remaing but everything else is rejecting including your facilities charges as service not payable in this location, so you have to call your hospital billing department”. Then I left messages to check on the referral PH’s office was supposed to send and the hospital to discuss setting up a payment plan for that initial bill and find out what was going on. PH’s office called back and said they faxed it a week ago. So I called the behavioral health clinic where it was supposed to go but they didn’t have it. The hospital billing dept never called back, so I called them again. The woman was rather brusque and asked if this was the only charge and I said I don’t think so. She began looking up the other charges and I got an indication of the grand total prior to insurance payment, which is A LOT and 50% of it is still a pretty hefty sum for us- this initial bill is maybe 3% of it. But then I got disconnected when she put me on hold and then after I called and got someone else who took a message for her, she never called back. They need to work on that issue.

However, I’m going to try to not think about it until I hear back from the clinic manager with what I need to do next. It isn’t like I have the money to start paying it off.

I did figure out how to get through our bills, although some will be late, mainly because we are going to skip/delay next month’s mortgage payment in order to get the mortgage company to stop telling us they can’t do anything because we aren’t delinquent. Apparently trying to be proactive about the issue is not what they want. Still dumb.

And Psychiatrist Guy did up my Zoloft another 50 mg because I’m just not getting there. It makes me a little concerned about the whole sleep thing being worse but he did say I could take two of the Seroquel if I needed to.

No fun

October 15, 2006

It is no fun to sort through your bills and decide which you are going to pay and which you are going to hold off on for now.

And Widget took two 2 1/2 hour naps today (one ending at 6:30 tonight).  She is going strong and I suspect it will be a bit of a battle to get her to bed at any sort of reasonable time.

So we’re not making it to church today.  Widget fell asleep on my lap in the rocker while T was taking his shower.  She was incredibly whiny this morning too.  She must not feel very well.  We’re on day three of her antibiotic, so hopefully she’ll start to feel better tomorrow.  It has been a week really that she has been sick as we missed church last week too because she had been running a fever on Saturday night.

T and I did yardwork yesterday, so the outside would look nice when realtor man came to take his pictures, which he did and they are nice and the house is on the MLS.  And now I’m going to whine because my back hurts and it was cold and I hate yardwork.  I told T yesterday I needed a gold star because I DO NOT DO YARDWORK but I was out there helping him raking and bagging three bagillion bags of oak tree leaves.

Widget and I are off to see PH tonight as she has been running a fever and out of sorts since Saturday. M called me at work at 11:20 this morning to say that I needed to come home because all she had done that morning was cry and cling to my mom. I had already swapped Monday for Thursday because of this fever business (it was 102 Sunday night) and I only managed to get 3 hours in today, although I did get a full day in yesterday. Slightly frustrating, though, since we need the money and 5 hours is a good size bit to lose out of my check.

I do have to laugh as M is here from TN and, I swear, every time she comes or we go there, Widget gets sick. And M just took G to the urgent care clinic because he’s been having drainage in his ear (he had tubes put in), so she called his ENT in TN and they said he needed to be checked to make sure a tube hadn’t come out.

*****

So it turns out that Widget has an ear infection and G has bronchitis but his tubes are fine.  I don’t have Widget’s antibiotic yet as it didn’t come through first to Meijer, and then, after I managed to reach PH by e-mail as the office was closed, it didn’t get through to the 24 hour Walgreens either.  Sigh.  I’m going to have to call the office in the morning to find out what happened.  Next time I don’t get it sent to my regular pharmacy, I’m going to make sure to get a paper copy because this is a pain.  Not that it is anybody’s fault, I suspect there must be a glitch in the electronic system they use to send prescriptions out.

I hope this isn’t a start of a long fall/winter of sickness.

Listed

October 10, 2006

Well, we signed all the paperwork with our realtor friend to list our house. Our starting list price is already $10,000 less than we owe. I suspect when all is said and done, any offer we submit to the mortgage company for approval will be around $20,000 short of what we owe. Big fun.

And I have graduated to every other week with #5. He suggested it, although it was after our discussion about debt and how I feel about it since I have been the main money manager and the spender. I realized I was far more stressed and anxious about it than I thought. He suggested looking into a Dave Ramsey course (there is one going on at his church, where his office is but it is about 5 sessions into it), which is funny because our realtor asked if I had ever read or heard of him too. I guess I will look into it.

October 9, 2006

annual-family-nuttiness.jpg

I’m not sure how this started but now every year when we go apple picking we create the family pyramid. This year’s pyramid includes:

Front: AE & G (Widget and CP refused to be in the picture)

Bottom: T, MK’s husband E, my sister AM’s boyfriend W, MK

Middle: AM, M, Me

Top: A

Missing this year, M’s husband K and my brother, AR
